How did you get your current job / how long have you worked in your current role?
I have worked in corporate PR and communications for 18 years – in London and Edinburgh agencies before setting up my own small consultancy in 2016. I love variety and the chance to push myself to achieve the best for clients. I am my own boss, which is a challenge at times but I try not to appraise myself too harshly!
What is the craziest thing you have bought during lockdown?
Several pairs of new trousers – no one knows what you are wearing on video calls so I am not sure why I have bothered! However, I do like clothes so kicking that habit is quite hard.
Have you signed up to any new mail order subscriptions? If so, what and why and do you think you will stick with it after COVID-19?
Scottish Wildlife Trust, which I actually received as a gift for a year. We definitely will keep this going though. It is a really important organisation making a difference to wild animals and habitats across Scotland. The mailings sent to us from SWT are fantastic – informative, imaginative and encouraging exploration locally and further afield when allowed.
What do you think direct marketing / mail / print will look like a year from now?
It will have to be more sustainable, thoughtful about materials, what it is offering and why and when it is being sent. Personalisation will be paramount I am certain of that.
What has been your favourite act of kindness you have seen during this crisis?
I really did think the The Dragonfly Agency’s ’12 Days of Christmas’ campaign was so generous, creative and genuinely engaging across many platforms.
If you could have 5 minutes of an open and honest conversation with anyone, who would it be?
Dolly Parton – I am a big fan of her music so a couple of minutes would have to be dedicated to that but really she just says it how it is and has a huge heart. Five minutes would definitely not be enough!
